Itinerary
Topkapi Palace
This is an extraordinary complex of buildings that extends over one of Istanbul‘s seven hills in a splendid position.
The palace was a setting for state occasions and royal entertainments and is a major tourist attraction today, containing the most holy relics of the Muslim world such as the prophet Muhammed’s cloak and sword. Topkapı Palace is among those monuments belonging to the “Historical Areas of Istanbul“, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, and is described in Criterion iv as “the best example of ensembles of palaces of the Ottoman period.
Little Hagia Sophia Mosque
Little Hagia Sophia Mosque stands Istanbul‘s oldest surviving Byzantine monument. It was constructed under the emperor Justinian near the southern city walls on the shores of the Sea of Marmara in a.d. 527–536. In 1504, the building was converted into a mosque.
It’s away from crowds, cosy and very quiet. You can rest, observe and perceive the smallest of the structure and imagine the huge version of St. Sophia. It has a lovely garden with a cute art cafe where you can rest and enjoy the atmosphere. You will love visiting this structure, and travel through time to the Byzantine period and get lost in your thoughts.
