That are series of stone walls that surrounded and protected the city of Constantinople since its founding as the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire by Constantine the Great. With numerous additions and modifications during their history, they are one of the greatest and most complex fortification systems ever built.
The main palace was built by the leading Ottoman architects of the era, Karabet and Nikoğos Balyan, and consists of three parts: the Imperial Mabeyn (State Apartments), Muayede Salon (Ceremonial Hall) and the Imperial Harem.
It’s connecting Eastern Europe to Western Asia. It is quite a great feeling driving over the bridge and leaving the one continent only to enter the other a few minutes later. The clear blue water and the Grey clouds with some cool winds will add a romantic flavour to your trip.
The highest peak in the İstanbul vicinity is the 288m Çamlıca Hill. It commands a magnificent view that embraces the mouth of the Bosphorus, old İstanbul, Galata, Beyoğlu and lets you understand the magnificence and beauty of the city.
